Q: How long have you been doing this?
A: Between my backup and I, we've been in the animal care field for over 16 years. We've worked in pet stores, doggie day cares, even animal research facilities, labs and clinics. We officially started A Pawsitive Influence in January of 2008 after dog walking for another company in Chicago for two years.
Q: How long do you stay in my home?
A: Our visits are typically 25 minutes long and we will be in your home approximately 25-30 minutes.
Q: Who will have access to my information, keys and home?
A: Currently, only myself. My back up is the only other person who has access to your information and keys. In the case that I am not available to care for your pet, you will be notified and my back up will be sent in my place.
Q: Can you medicate my pet?
A: We are both trained in the veterinary field and we are capable of administering most medications and medical procedures; however, we are very honest about what we are capable of and comfortable doing.
Q: My dog is not always friendly with strangers or other dogs, can you still walk them?
A: If we feel that your dog is in danger of harming others or themselves, we do reserve the right to discontinue services. However, we do not feel that an unfriendly dog deserves any less love. We promise to try all alternatives of training and will work with your pet as long as possible. We have dealt with aggressive dogs and understand that these dogs simply need more understanding and patience.
Q: Can you board my pet at your home?
A: We are not a boarding facility and cannot board your pet in our home. We do offer overnight house/pet sitting in your home, and often this is the best option. It is often quite stressful for pets to be left behind when their owners are away, but being able to stay at home in an environment they feel safest in helps ease the stress and is much less overwhelming.
Q: Can you train my dog?
A: While we can offer training tips and help with your pet, we are not yet certified as a dog trainer and cannot offer any sort of training course. We will gladly continue the training you are working on with your pet, and encourage you to leave information on the techniques you are using, so that we can do the same. Consistency is key!
